A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Financial Operations to join our business reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (and a dotted line into the Chief Operations Officer). This is a newly created role within the finance function with a specific remit to organize and oversee the daily operations of the group to ensure that the business is well-coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and coaching its people. The position will ensure candidates are onboarding compliantly and efficiently, paid accurately, billing is correct and financial transactions are all accounted for in an appropriate and timely way. The role will have additional duty to drive improved Governance and streamline current processes through the adoption of new IT systems. You will manage a team of approximately 7-9 team members, 4-6 of which are direct reports. As Head of Financial Operations, you will be responsible for the management of global billing, accounts receivable/payable, systems, compliance & business protection. The area of responsibility for this role is wide-ranging and shall require in-depth knowledge of various company processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Improve the pay & bill function across the business to support the sales function in their growth trajectory.

  • Create, implement and develop a standard operating model including systems integration which align to SOM and commercial business growth (Bullhorn compliance, automation, contractor workflows, Xactly & Autometry) to ensure a smooth end-to-end contractor journey.

  • Responsible for team to ensure prompt payments and minimising debt by reviewing process and implementing recommendations for improvement.

  • Provide key regular Management Reporting. Including but not limited to: DSO, debtor ageing, cashflow forecast, contractor satisfaction (NPS scores and utilisation); and implementing corrective actions where applicable.

  • Building successful networks with sales so that process improvements can be made across the operation.

  • Implementation and project management of back-office systems to drive change.

  • Designing focused activity to drive aged debt downwards and improve DSO, through building strong process understanding with the sales support team.

  • Ensuring that the control environment is fit for purpose in Accounts Payable driving improvements to process and ensuring that the Company Governance for approvals is implemented across the business and is evidenced, recommending changes to process to minimise fraud and where possible, saving cost.

  • Develop and maintain processes and controls to enhance group treasury. Manage the administration of banking facilities, where needed.

  • Support the control, ownership and process management of bank mandates, authorized signatories list, internet banking facilities, corporate credit card facilities, direct debits, merchant facilities and certain other treasury related requests

  • Establish strong relationship with the accounting team ensuring that transactions and balances are assured and accurately communicated.

  • · Act as the Groups Data Protection Officer – Liaising with regulatory bodies in relation to data complaints, SAR requests and compliance with data protection / privacy laws across UK, Europe & America.

  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established legislation.

  • Acting as the Group insurance manager – responsible for the renewal and management of all group policies. Management of relationship with insurance brokers. Internal insurance advice provided on policies and limits within contracts.

  • Setting KPIs and targets across the team to drive delivery excellence.

  • Establish high performing team, motivated to deliver high standards of service to the business.

Here's what you’ll need to succeed:

  • Must have experience of working in the recruitment industry - non-negioanble

  • Experienced Finance/Operation Leads, with a background of managing small/medium-sized team in a related, finance or controllership environment.

  • Ability to build strong management relationships and resolve cross-functional issues and drive new processes.

  • Highly organized, ability to work under pressure and to balance the workload.

  • Ability to appraise current processes and deliver key changes autonomously.

  • Project Management or Change management history in a Financial Control environment, an advantage.

  • High levels of resilience; sustains momentum when faced with challenges. Balances competing demands and responds well to changed priorities.

  • Communicates effectively and inspires people at all levels whilst gaining the investment of others to drive towards and achieve a high-performance culture.

  • Highly effective at building and maintaining business partner relationships. Manages an effective team and builds team spirit, developing positive outlook and goals.

  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., supply chain, finance, customer service etc.)

  • Staffing industry experience is highly desirable

  • Previous experience with Bullhorn/ In Time an advantage
