Earth Day 2021

To commemorate Earth Day 2021, we hosted a ‘lunch & learn' session with FareShare UK, where Luke Wiechula, community and partnership lead, spoke about the importance of tackling food waste and fighting hunger in the UK.

FareShare is a food re-distribution charity, which works with over 10,000 frontline charities and community groups to redistribute surplus food from the food industry to vulnerable people in need. Since the closure of schools was announced and COVID-19 was starting to make an impact, there was a huge increase in demand for food. Currently, about 12% of the UK population are currently experiencing food insecurity. Last year, FareShare provided 57.3 million meals to people up and down the country, with equates to over £21.7M worth of food contributed to its charity members.

Fare Share helps to support families and children, food banks and covid food hubs to provide nutritious meals alongside life-changing support services.

A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity. Together, we can push towards a better world.Find out moreabout Fare Share, as well as opportunities to donate and volunteer.
