International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

​May 17th – also known as International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, allows us to stand up, celebrate LGBTQ+ rights, and respect the diversity and strength of communities across the globe.

According to GOV.UK, COVID-19 has exposed existing gaps of equality and vulnerabilities within the LGBTQ+ community; bias and social stigma, discrimination, economic impact and violence are only a few of the current issues and disparities. This impactful day was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. As an organisation, we fully support and the government’s plans to enact a law to illegalise conversion therapy.
