We caught up with the insightful Dr Guss Bussmann in part three of our Pride Month Spotlight Series – hear about Guss' career journey, his biggest accomplishments, and what Pride means to him below.
I am a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion professional, having transitioned from the legal practice after 10+ years as a lawyer. My passion for enabling a sense of belonging on people and being an instrument of transformative change led me to a profession where I build plans and strategies for companies committed to people’s experiences. As a DEI professional, my biggest accomplishments include improvement in workplace experiences, better commitments and positioning for brands, and to have found a path where I can unapologetically be myself. I talked about that when invited by Vogue Business to be on stage at their global conference last year.
To me, Pride is a celebration of how far we’ve came and a reminder that our rights today were not granted, but a result of fighting and of the courage of those who came before us. We proudly stand on the shoulders of LGBTQ+ heroes and should celebrate that, but also renew our strength to fight for those who don’t share the same privilege as ours.
