In 2010 James co-founded the award winning & market leading veteran social enterprise Ex-Military Careers ("EMC") (Ex-MilitaryCareers.com). After leaving the British Army, (shortly after being injured from his tour in Iraq), due to struggling to find employment. James took to social media by creating a LinkedIn group page (which today has over 10,000 members), to see whether other veterans were struggling to find employment, to his surprise he wasn't alone and veterans who struggled to find employment after leaving the military was a far larger and systemic problem. James along with his brother Ashley began building the EMC platform, and today EMC social media is the third largest in the world and the largest in Europe for veteran recruitment businesses. Today the platform has connected over 900+ employers and hundreds of thousands of candidates mainly in the UK & USA. In 2016 James and Ashley Lawrence were both invited to a drinks reception at Buckingham Palace by Prince Henry & William in recognition of services in supporting her majesty's armed forces and were fortunate to meet and speak in detail with Queen Elizabeth II.

James holds an executive MBA from Bayes Business School.
